The Age of Sigmar Cometh!

So I guess it has been nearly a year since my last post. Again life just got in the way for some time, but hopefully I can bring back some action to this blog.

Today I met up with Dr. The Viking from Dr. The Viking's Miniature Games Hell. Apparently we got sucked into the Games Workshop vortex once again and now we are playing Age of Sigmar (YIKES!).

Dr. The Viking has been speedpainting a Chaos Horde (You can go to his blog to see the progress) and I have dug up my Oldhammer Dwarfs.

I never got around to finish an actual Warhammer army and when we gamed Dragon Rampant I never managed to finsh an army for that either, so my army still consist of a lot of unfinished models among the few I have finished so far.

There is really not much more to say. We are just having some fun with miniatures.

Some unfinished Heartbreaker Dwarfs.

Khorne Warriors approaching.

A bit of cavalry.

The small and fat red line.

More action.

Age of Sigmar seems to be pretty easy on the rules side, while still having enough meat on the bones to give each unit their own flavour. So far I like it.

Orktober 2016 Part II

So I managed to finish my Orks for the 2016 orktober Fest. I painted 6 new Space Orks and took some photos of them mixed with my already painted ones. This brings me to a total of 21 painted Orks.

The complete gang!

Nobs in power armour.

Group with command and banner.

Group with Nob.

Group with Nob carrying a plasma pistol and chainsword.

The colours came out a bit strange on some of the photos, but I hope you can still make out what is what on the pics.

Orktober 2016 Part I

Once again it is Orktober. I forgot about it last year and even though I mostly paint Darkest Africa these days I want to do some more Space Orks this year.

To get the mood going I will post a picture, I found in the computer, of some Orks I painted some time ago, but still haven't been posted on my blog.

A Big Boss and his retinue!

So I hope to have a few more boyz painted this season and if all else fails, maybe just take some updated photos of my Space Orks, there might be a few new models among them anyway.

So for now, Happy Orktober!

Tin Can Silos

I decided to build some more post apocalypse/sci-fi terrain. I am still on a budget and chose to do something which cost me absolutely nothing. Only using some old tin cans, empty cornflakes boxes, glue and paint which I already had.

I have seen this idea both online and I have seen friends do them, so I can absolutely not take credit for the design, but I find it easy and effective.

This is what a finished can looks like before painting.

Unfortunately I only had one empty corflakes box and a can needs a large piece of the box, so I only managed to finish two cans so far, but I plan to eat a lot of cereal in the next couple of months, so hopefully I will have enough silos to build an industrial complex soon.

A sellection of different size cans.

I made this paper template before cutting into the cereal box.

A couple of silos painted and washed.

Space Ork for scale.

These are quite easy to construct and I think they look pretty good considering the cost and time put into it. I will add some grafitti and posters to the sides and probably try to add some more bits and bops from the bits box on some of the upcoming silos.

Eventually I would like to build or buy some fitting ladders and walkways, so some of them can be climbed, this will make them good terrain for skirmish games like Necromunda and such.

My only concern about these is that I used some cans which used to contain Chili Beans and I can still smell it on them, but hopefully the smell will fade in time or maybe I should use some cans with a less smelly content next time.
